Commissions

A commissioned work is a unique creative endeavour between artist and client. A commissioned portrait can be a gift of love or can be a legacy for the future. I am very happy to take on commissioned work and enjoy the process. If you are interested in commissioning a portrait please contact me for an informal chat to discuss your project.

The Process

I begin the process with an initial consultation by email to discuss your ideas for the piece. We will discuss the details of who you would like me to paint, and what size you would like the painting to be. It is helpful at this point to see any photographs you would like me to work from, so that I can establish if they are suitable. I can then provide you with pricing, which excludes postage and packaging which would be calculated at a later date. I will also give you an estimated time scale for how long it will take me to complete.

If you are happy to go ahead, I will then send you an invoice for 50% of the cost. This is required before the painting commences.

When I have finished the painting I will send you an image for your approval. I will then send you an invoice for the remaining payment with the addition of postage and packaging.

Things to consider

I paint directly from photo reference, and if you are supplying your own photos they must be high resolution, with good lighting, focus and composition in order to get the best quality painting. I want to be able to give you the best experience possible, so the better the photographs, the better quality the painted image will be.

All my commissioned works are in oils, either on canvas or board, depending on the size, unless otherwise discussed.

Postage and packaging come at an additional cost and cannot be determined until the work as been packed, weighed and measured. Pricing will vary depending on the final destination, but I will look for the best prices possible and will ensure your work is safely and securely packaged.
